Premium Industry Package
Approximate Course Duration: 13 weeks
Inshore and Offshore Diving
Maximise your employment prospects with our ultimate air diving career package. As well as proving you with the mandatory HSE commercial diver training, this package also includes essential vocational skills, which form an excellent base for your diving career and qualifies you for inshore and offshore air diving.
Choosing the Premium Industry Career Package will increase your career opportunities, making you the ideal multi-skilled employee. You will gain valuable skills experience and will stand out to employers. This training package will provide you with a total of 65 dives, which is significantly more than you will receive at any other school.
HSE First Aid at Work
The first week of the Premium
Industry Package covers essential HSE First Aid at Work training as well as the
safety aspects of diving, before going underwater. Read more information on the

HSE Surface Supplied
Week two of the course moves on to
the HSE Surface Supplied Course. This part of the course takes four weeks to
complete and includes diving to depths of 50m (165ft), totaling 24 dives,
providing you with more experience underwater.
The main aim of this part of
the course is to teach you to dive competently in surface supplied equipment and
to train you to handle emergency situations such as a loss of air or
communications and to learn how to rescue a stricken diver. As your course
progresses, the depth you dive to will also steadily increase which will help
prepare you for the challenge of diving at depth on air. For full details on

HSE Surface Supplied (Top Up)
After completing the
Surface Supplied part of the course, you will then move on to the Surface
Supplied (Top Up) or wet bell part of the course. This is an essential
qualification if you want to work offshore. During this one week course, you
will complete 8 dives to a depth of 21m (70ft) while using a hot water suit. To

HSE SCUBA
This part of the course takes three weeks to
complete and includes 24 dives to a maximum depth of 30m (100ft), training you
to dive adeptly in SCUBA equipment. These dives are conducted using traditional
half masks and demand valve methods, but most of the dives will be undertaken
using full face masks with voice communications. Full details of the HSE

Tools Assessment
On the Premium Industry Package, you will also be given comprehensive and important tools and skills training, enabling you to undertake a wide range of work in construction. You will receive training and assessment in the use of some of the tools commonly used underwater throughout the thirteen weeks of this course.
You will gain experience in the use of hand tools including the use and maintenance of a hammer and chisel and learning to cut a steel bar, use of a hack saw, ring spanners, chain blocks and tirfors. The power tools which you will learn to use include air lifts, a water jet, impact wrench, disc cutter, a drill and jack hammer.
Welding and Burning
This two week course is designed to provide you with an excellent introduction to surface and underwater welding. By the end of the course, as a minimum, you will be competent to weld an anode on to a structure underwater. Before receiving your certificate, you will be required to produce test pieces for examination. More information on the welding and burning course can be found here.
Non-Destructive Testing
The NDT ticket is required by most offshore employees, and the skills and techniques taught on this course are fundamental for any commercial diver, whether working offshore, inshore or in civil engineering. Our two week course includes both classroom based and practical training and will provide you with exposure to conditions similar to those you will experience as an NDT diver, whichever sectors you end up working in.

RYA Level 2 Powerboat
The RYA Powerboat Course takes just 2 days to complete and is the recognised minimum standard for powerboat skippers.
The aim of the Powerboat Course is to enable you to drive vessels, of varying sizes, and to gain the experience and knowledge to drive safely as well as gaining an understanding of the boat’s engine, drive types and controls, along with the different types of craft that you may come across. Assessments
Throughout the Premium Industry Package you will be assessed on your practical abilities as well as completing both written and multiple choice exams. Assistance will be given to those not used to written examinations and you are permitted two attempts at each exam.
Commercial Diving Equipment
The Premium Industry Package includes:
- All course books;
- Use of drysuit, woolly bear, neoprene undersuit for under the hot water suits; work gloves; diving knife; neoprene hood and hard hat;
- Submission to the HSE of Competency Assessment.
- Overalls;
- Professional divers logbook;
- Underwater Centre commercial diving t-shirt.
Our Location
The Underwater Centre is uniquely based on the shores of Loch Linnhe, a sheltered seawater loch with tides and varying visibility. At the foot of our private pier, on the loch bed, there are a range of subsea structures for you to train with. You will dive from either the pier or from one of our purpose built barges and learn diving and inspection techniques with our seabed structures, such as our simulated oil platform leg, a number of wrecks, NDT structure, a section of pipeline or subsea welding station.
