Experienced Staff and Instructors

Our highly trained and experienced team of instructors and support staff will be able to provide help and expertise to your team, whether they are at The Underwater Centre to test new equipment, or they are here to receive specific training.

Dive & ROV Teams
Our team is lead by our Diver Training Manager Alf Leadbitter, one of the world’s most experienced air and mixed gas divers. He is joined by our Air Diving Manager, Ali MacLeod, and a number of experienced Diver Training Instructors.

The Diver Training Instructors have a variety of qualifications and certificates, including HSE First Aid at Work (and instruction), HSE SCUBA, Closed Bell, Surface Supplied, IMCA Bell Supervisors, Life Support Technicians – to name just a few. In addition to this, the team also has experience in additional skills and tools training and instruction, including CSWIP Non-Destructive Testing Instructor, CSWIP 3.1u Preparatory Course Instructor, 3.4u certificate, etc.

Our ROV team are also extremely well qualified and experienced, with the head of our ROV Operations and Training regularly working offshore to ensure his skills are right up-to-date. Each of our ROV instructors have extensive hours of flying experience, along with certificates in electrics, ROV engineering skills and supervising.

Support Team
Along with our dive and ROV teams, there are a number of support staff who are equally important to the smooth running of The Underwater Centre. The support team who include our vessels’ crew, are qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering, crane and fork lift truck operations, along with health and safety training.

Our team and their knowledge and expertise ensures that the training or trials which you undertake here in Fort William will be of the highest standard.
