SUBSEA TRAINING PROVIDER TO EXHIBIT AT SPECIALIST CAREERS EVENT
Staff from the internationally renowned subsea training provider will be exhibiting at an employment fair organised by the Careers Transition Partnership (CTP), a national body which provides specialist careers and resettlement advice to ex-Forces personnel.
Last year, The Underwater Centre became a preferred supplier for the CTP, which has a database of thousands of Service leavers – underlining the Centre’s global reputation as the subsea training provider of choice.
Ali MacLeod, Air Diving Manager, and Rob Carswell, one of the Centre’s head ROV instructors, will attend the event. The stand will include a display of film subsea footage of commercial diving and ROV students training at The Underwater Centre.
Former service personnel is a strong market for the Centre and the careers fair provides an ideal opportunity to target those who have left, or are about to leave the Forces, according to Steve Ham, General Manager of The Underwater Centre.
“People who have served in the Forces make exceptionally good commercial divers and ROV pilots,” he said.
“As well as often having strong technical expertise which can be transferred into the subsea sector, ex-Service personnel are used to being away from home which is often the case with working as a commercial diver or ROV pilot. This professional ethic and ability to be flexible makes them perfect candidates for training at The Underwater Centre and then going on to have successful subsea careers.
“We are a preferred supplier for the Careers Transition Partnership and this was a prestigious endorsement for us. Taking part in the careers fair will allow us to have direct contact with ex-Service personnel.
“We took part in another CTP event at the end of last year and it was so successful that we have decided to increase the team who will be staffing the stand, so that we now cover both of our main subsea strands of ROV and commercial diving.”
The Underwater Centre is the only training centre in the world that offers the full range of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) commercial diving qualifications in air and mixed gas diver training, from HSE SCUBA to HSE Closed Bell diving.
The Centre’s in-depth seven week training programme for ROV pilots comprises four weeks of electronics modules and three weeks working ‘hands on’ with the Centre’s remotely operated vehicles.
The CTP careers fair takes place in Perth on Thursday, June 3, 2010.
